Birthday Abs

Okay, I’m posting a “selfie” – a shot of myself taken by me with my cell phone while I pointed the phone at the bathroom mirror this past Saturday morning, which happened to be 38 days out from my upcoming 57th birthday. On my 16th birthday, I made my first solo flight in an airplane. That was cause for celebration. For my 57th birthday, I celebrate the blessing of health and fitness. Let me be clear: I’m not saying I have the best abs. I’m just celebrating that at 57 ( in 5 weeks) I’m still making progress along the health and fitness continuum. The short title of my eBook is “Age Re-Defined”. That concept means much to me. Be proactive in your own health and fitness. First, educate youself about exercise and nutrition. Second, take meaningful action. Can you be a professional or an executive and still be fit? Yes! I was working as an attorney when all of the pictures of me appearing elsewhere on this website were taken. In October, 2008 a doctor said to me “You’re not getting any younger”. He offered thosewords as justification for certain changes in my health profile. I refused to accept age as the sole determinant of my health going forward. I reversed those changes and emerged healthier and, by many measures, “younger” – through exercise, nutrition, and the mind-body connection. That experience impacted me so much that it eventually led me to write “Age Re-Defined”. So, if you’re in your 50s, birthdays can and should still be cause for celebration and the fitness continuum still beckons. A special shout-out to all the folks with March or April birthdays.
